Victoria infrastructure projects in 2018
Dominating media headlines, the West Gate Tunnel project – one of Victoria’s largest ever urban road projects – is set to be the major infrastructure project for the state over the next few years. With construction of the northern tunnel portal set to begin in early 2018, this project is expected to take four years to complete – traffic should start hitting the road in 2022. Add to this the ongoing removal of level crossings and 2018 is set to be a busy year for Victoria infrastructure projects.
Telecommunications 2018 (and beyond)
With the NBN rollout continuing in 2018, Telstra’s new mobile 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) Gigabit network offers a viable alternative to those not yet connected to the NBN. And, with speeds of up to 1Gbps reported, it’s not hard to see why.
The new 4G LTE network is only a stepping stone however, with Australian telecommunications infrastructure preparing for the upcoming 5G network, which will provide internet users with speeds up to one hundred times faster than the current 4G non-LTE network. This next phase of telecommunications will have a significant impact on the industry and create substantial jobs growth in the near future. And with planning well underway, 2018 is set to be an exciting year in terms of the development and implementation of this technology.
FTS Resolve continues to grow in 2018
After a big 2017, 2018 is set to be even bigger for the team at FTS Resolve – with some massive projects on the cards. This year we’ll be increasing our delivery to offer our turnkey solutions in Queensland, with a crew set to start works in January. In addition, we’ll be continuing to build on our electrical capabilities and expand our skilled team, which will allow us to further deliver on a range of key projects.
