How FTS champions recycling and corporate responsibility

At FTS Resolve we are mindful of our impact on the environment. As such, we take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. We believe in building a more connected future, and that means trying to make sure that everything we do is aligned with what’s best for the communities we live and work in, as well as the environment as a whole.

We are accredited to environmental ISO 14001 standard and assess the environmental and community risks of projects before we get started. That can involve looking at our impact on flora, fauna, and protected or heritage-listed sites.

But that’s just the beginning. Here are a handful of FTS Resolve’s cutting-edge corporate responsibility practices.

We meet regulations and strive to surpass industry standards

One of our big responsibilities is to protect people and ecosystems. At FTS Resolve, we work hard to reduce pollution and safely dispose of any substance that could be dangerous. And we take pride in using environmentally friendly chemicals wherever possible.

We apply responsible disposal techniques, such as holding a Prescribed Industrial Waste (PIW) ticket, aligned with the Environmental Protection Authority Victoria (EPA). Some of our team are trained in the PIW standard, so we can safely transport materials that contain asbestos.

FTS Resolve collects all drill slurry via a vacuum truck to ensure there are no uncontrolled releases into the environment.

We use industry standard bunding to store waste oil from machinery servicing, which is then disposed of by an approved contractor.

We avoid emissions

To help reduce our carbon emissions, we aim to source Australian supplies wherever we can. This has the added bonus of supporting Australian businesses, which is a win-win in our eyes.

There are other ways we reduce our fuel use, such as in our fibre splicing vans, which use a dual battery system (240v inverter) so they don’t require the engine to be running when using 240v power tools. We also use and maintain a smarter, more modern fleet of vehicles, which are often more efficient than older models.

Cleaner drilling

Our implemented technology solutions help to minimise our water use. One such solution is the mobile KEMTRON filtration system, which allows us to recycle water used in horizontal directional drilling. This reduces our consumption of water and minimises transport requirements.

We’re always conscious of recycling

Our commercial recycling practices are some of the best in the industry. We recycle cardboard that we use and minimise our metallic waste by sending it to an accredited recycling centre.

FTS also participates in various membership associations, which helps us stay up to date with cutting-edge recycling practices. We’re always looking for new opportunities to improve our corporate recycling practice and reduce our environmental footprint.
